Matthieu Louanges is global head of Institutional and of International Wealth Solutions at First Eagle Investments. Based in Munich, Matthieu leads a team responsible for the firm’s global institutional business as well as the wealth management business outside the United States with third-party distribution, including its distribution partnership with Amundi, Europe’s largest asset manager. Prior to joining First Eagle in August 2020, Matthieu was a senior leader in PIMCO’s EMEA franchise, most recently heading up the firm’s global relationship with Allianz. Earlier in his career at PIMCO he launched the company’s EMEA insurance channel, which over time evolved into a broader financial institutions group, and he had extensive oversight responsibility for PIMCO’s business in Switzerland and France as well as its EMEA client solutions team. Matthieu joined PIMCO as a portfolio manager of mutual funds and institutional mandates in 2000 upon its acquisition by Allianz, where he had been playing a similar role. He began his career at Deutsche Bank in the fixed income sales department before moving to the Caisse Centrale de Réescompte to become a fixed income portfolio manager. Matthieu earned a master's degree in finance from the Ecole Supérieure de Gestion in Paris, where he graduated with honors, and he holds the Chartered Financial Analyst designation.
